18-year-old arrested for attempted homicide

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kelvin Tay’sean Baker, 18, was arrested early this morning and charged with attempted homicide after allegedly shooting a long-time acquaintance.

At about 10:45 p.m. on July 2, a 911 call was received from the victim, who said he had been shot. Dispatch pinged his phone, and Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers found the victim in the 1100 block of NE 24th Street; the victim was reportedly shot in the shoulder, and officers provided medical care until EMS arrived. The victim reportedly said he had been shot by Baker, someone he has know for years; he said he didn’t know why Baker would shoot him…
