Bizarre Armed Hostage Situation Between Coworkers Leads To Deputy-Involved Shooting In Florida

A Florida man is facing multiple felony charges after a bizarre hostage situation ended with a deputy-involved shooting outside a Bonefish Grill in Gainesville Wednesday night.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began earlier in the day, when a group of coworkers from Firehouse Subs traveled to Blue Springs for a work outing. At around 2:40 p.m., the group began driving back to Gainesville in two separate vehicles. Shortly after getting underway, one vehicle flagged down the other, and both pulled over.

Tyrese DaJon Jones, 26, approached the car driven by a female coworker and told one of her passengers to switch cars with him, claiming the people in the other vehicle were behaving strangely.
