Summerfield man who lost license after DUI caught back behind wheel

A Summerfield man was arrested for driving with a suspended license in an unregistered vehicle.

A deputy responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle without a license plate near 9300 SE 163rd Lane, Summerfield, at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. While in the area, he spotted 36-year-old Derek David Jackson driving a gray Chevy Impala northbound on Southeast 92nd Terrace.

Jackson made a right turn onto Southeast 163rd Street, and the deputy saw the vehicle did not have a license plate. He stopped the vehicle at 9325 SE 163rd Lane, and Jackson immediately stated the vehicle was “not good.” He also said he did not have a license, the report said.

A check of Jackson’s driving history revealed his license was revoked for DUI in 2022. It was suspended in July 2024 and cancelled indefinitely in 2024. Additionally, he had an active Marion County warrant for failure to appear (trespass after warning), and his vehicle was not registered, the report said…
