Heat Advisory Issued for Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, including Jacksonville and Gainesville, Amid Soaring Temperatures

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a heat advisory for the entire region of northeast and north central Florida and southeast Georgia, in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT today. Temperatures are slated to climb, bringing heat index values up to 112 degrees.

Residents in affected areas, including Gainesville, Jacksonville, and St. Augustine, are advised to take appropriate precautions. The NWS recommends staying hydrated, remaining in air-conditioned environments, avoiding direct sunlight, and checking on family members and neighbors. Wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing is also suggested to help reduce the effects of extreme heat.

The NWS advisory recommends limiting strenuous outdoor activities to morning or evening hours to reduce exposure to high temperatures.
