A hammer-wielding ex-boyfriend was arrested after allegedly breaking into a woman’s home and threatening to kill her.
James Oliver Richardson, 39, of Weirsdale, is facing a felony charge of battery and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault following his arrest Thursday by Marion County sheriff’s deputies.
The woman reported that Richardson entered her home and accused her of cheating on him, according to an arrest report. The woman described their relationship of seven years as being on-again, off-again. They had broken up a few months ago at her insistence.
When Richardson entered the woman’s home in the wee hours, he “searched every room” for a suspected male companion. After he was unsuccessful in the search, he got into a “fighting stance” and grabbed the woman by her neck. In addition to threatening to kill her, Richardson said he would burn down her house.
