Mother arrested after allegedly swinging broom at her daughter

A mother was arrested after allegedly swinging a broom at her daughter in the front yard of their home.

Eugenia Rices, 42, of Ocklawaha, was arrested Thursday on a charge of battery by Marion County sheriff’s deputies.

The daughter contacted law enforcement and upon a deputy’s arrival at the family home, she described an attack in which she claimed her mother hit her in the back with a broom during an argument. Rices’ son grabbed his mother and held her on the ground until she calmed down.
