‘Erratic’ Marion man jailed for punching deputy during traffic stop

A traffic stop for a non-visible license plate ended with the arrest of a 45-year-old Marion County man after he allegedly refused to follow commands and punched a deputy.

On Wednesday, July 23, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was towing a box trailer near the intersection of NE 175th Street and NE 22nd Court. The arrest report stated that a visible license plate was not displayed on the trailer, prompting a traffic stop near the 17900 block of NE 22nd Court.

The deputy made contact with the pickup truck’s driver, identified as 45-year-old Citra resident Keith Baron Pierce. In the report, the deputy noted that Pierce “immediately displayed signs of agitation” and was “acting in an erratic and confrontational manner.”…
