Husband allegedly shoves wife during argument over visiting neighbor

An Ocklawaha man was arrested for battery after allegedly shoving his wife during an argument that started over her visit to a neighbor’s house.

A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance at 18823 SE 92nd Lane, Ocklawaha, at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, he met the female victim who stated she was battered by her husband, 44-year-old David Staley.

She advised that she had come home from being at a neighbor’s house between 8 and 9 p.m. Once she went into the home, Staley got irate toward her for being at the neighbor’s house. The two began to argue, made worse by Staley’s anger and drinking, the report said.

Staley’s wife was standing in one of the bedrooms while arguing with him. While facing her, he grabbed her left wrist and shoved her onto a bed. He then walked out of the home, got into his Chevrolet Trailblazer and left before law enforcement got there, the report said…
