Ocala woman jailed after ‘severely malnourished’ horse euthanized

An Ocala woman has been charged with animal cruelty after her 17-year-old horse was found on a local farm in a “severely malnourished” state before a vet recommended it be euthanized.

On Wednesday, July 23, a civilian agricultural investigator with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a farm located in the 15700 block of NW 27th Avenue in Citra. According to MCSO, a complaint was received regarding an underweight horse on the premises.

When the investigator arrived at the farm, a 17-year-old Old Bay Thoroughbred Gelding named Bully was spotted. The sheriff’s office stated that Bully was in poor condition, and all the animal’s ribs, tailhead, and hip bones were visible…
