OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – Starting this school year, Marion County Public Schools will restrict some students from using cell phones during the entire school day and for middle schoolers, that includes arrival, dismissal, and class transitions.
District leaders say the new policy, in line with a new state law, aims to reduce distractions and enhance learning environments.
“They can’t have them out, they can’t use them during instructional time or in passing periods or arrival or dismissal,” said John Kerley, director of student discipline for MCPS. “This is the biggest change we’ve had statewide for that policy.”…
