An Ocala man was arrested on an aggravated assault charge after he allegedly armed himself with a shotgun and threatened a worker who was clearing a neighboring property.
On Friday, August 1, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office corporal and deputy responded to the incident location on SW 142nd Loop. Upon arrival, the male victim advised that he was clearing the lot next to a home, which belonged to 57-year-old Russell Leroy Cooper, Jr., according to the arrest report.
The corporal noted that the victim was wearing a work uniform, which included the name of a land clearing company, and there were several other workers in the area who were wearing the exact same uniform. A large truck was also parked outside, with the company’s name written on the side of the vehicle, and several heavy pieces of machinery were observed on the lot that indicated the workers were “doing a legitimate job service.”…
