High-speed chase on stolen motorcycle lands Ocala man in jail

An Ocala man was arrested several days after allegedly leading Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

On Monday, August 4, an MCSO deputy was patrolling the area of Baseline Road and Maricamp Road in Ocala when a motorcycle was observed traveling southbound on Baseline Road. The motorcycle did not have rear lights, according to the arrest report.

The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the motorcycle’s rider – later identified as Pascual Sanchez Irizarry – allegedly refused to stop. The report stated that Sanchez Irizarry “turned back to look at [the deputy]” before he accelerated, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour on Baseline Road…
