Deputy recognizes and stops wanted man in brother’s vehicle at gas station

A Summerfield man was arrested after a deputy recognized him as having a suspended license and several warrants.

A deputy noticed a black 2005 Chevy utility vehicle sitting next to him at a red light in Summerfield around 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. He knew it was registered to the brother of 64-year-old James Martin Roberts.

While sitting next to the vehicle, the deputy recognized the driver as Roberts. He had a suspended license and a warrant for three counts of felony violation of probation for possession of methamphetamine and two counts of possession of controlled substance. The deputy subsequently stopped him turning into the Marathon gas station, located at 16481 S U.S. 301, the report said.

Roberts first advised that he lost his wallet and did not have his driver’s license with him. He instead provided his brother’s name and date of birth. After being detained, he stated his name was “Jimmy,” and he was going to get in contact with a lawyer to handle his warrant, the report said…
