After Ocala and Marion County law enforcement officials announced that they will no longer enforce a state law banning open carry, multiple residents reached out to share their opinions on the matter. Here are a couple of those letters:
“I am so happy to see the open carry law allows us to carry openly. There are way too many criminals for law enforcement to deal with by themselves. I have been in or involved with law enforcement or the military since I was 18 years old. I know when a gun is needed or not needed. Thank you, Billy Woods.” Mark Hinkle, Ocala
“I voted for Sheriff Woods and will continue to vote for him. I agree with decisions he makes because I trust him to carry my voice through his responsibilities daily. His response to the new open carry ruling is the latest example, His video response wasn’t just, effective a certain date, or if you violate the rule, he included history and modern day situations about it. I’m not saying I’m happy because of the open carry being passed, but I do feel that Sheriff Woods will do right in enforcing it properly.” – Calvin White, Ocala…
