Marion County Sheriff’s Office advocates for more firearm detection dogs at schools

OCALA, Fla. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is working on a plan to add additional firearm detection dogs that can be deployed on school campuses.

The Sheriff’s Office currently has two firearm detection dogs that are trained to sniff out firearms, bullets, gun oil, and black powder. They work alongside school resource officers, and currently rotate among middle and high schools during random school searches.
