I-75 chase ends in crash, seizure of 100 pounds of marijuana

A 24-year-old man accused of leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase on Interstate 75 in Marion County is facing an additional drug trafficking charge after more than 100 pounds of marijuana was allegedly found in his vehicle.

On Wednesday, October 1, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was informed by Gainesville police that a white sport utility vehicle had fled from an attempted traffic stop on I-75 southbound in Alachua County, according to the arrest report.

Several MCSO deputies quickly spotted the SUV as it headed southbound on I-75 in Ocala. One of the deputies noted in the report that the SUV was “following too closely behind a semi-truck.”…
