First responders urge residents to prepare as temperatures drop into 30s

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – First responders and shelter officials are advising residents on how to stay warm and safe as temperatures are expected to enter the 30s this week.

Gainesville Fire Rescue officials say it’s important to keep warm and check on neighbors during the cold weather.

“Preparing as much as we can. There are areas that will give out blankets and so forth to people that will need them. Check your neighbors also, a lot of the times we do have a lot of elderly in the area and we don’t think of them all the time,” said Sean Withers, district chief with Gainesville Fire Rescue…
