A 41-year-old Ocala man accused of pointing a green laser beam at a Marion County Sheriff’s Office helicopter because he was “bored” has been indicted on a federal charge.
On Thursday, U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the return of an indictment charging Adam Santiago-Lugo with aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft.
Back on Saturday, August 2, at around 2 a.m., a green laser beam repeatedly struck an MCSO helicopter while members of the aviation unit were conducting a security check near the area of SW 154th Lane Road and SW 58th Terrace, according to MCSO.
