Alachua County makes 4 tweaks to land development code

  • Alachua County amended its land development code to allow up to 10 hens or ducks on parcels five acres or less within the urban cluster and adjusted poultry limits outside it.
  • The county aligned with 2025 state laws by removing its farmworker housing policy and allowing certified recovery residences in multiple zoning areas.

Alachua County voted Tuesday to amend its Unified Land Development Code in four different ways, allowing residential poultry, expanding inclusionary zoning and aligning with new state laws.

The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) also approved a preliminary development plan for Eastwood Preserve. The plan shows the layout of the 149-home development near Newnans Lake.
