The oldest official Black women’s organization in Alachua County is in the midst of a fundraising campaign to pay for renovations to its building.
The Female Protective Society Lodge No. 10 at 12610 NW 39th Ave. is trying to raise $250,000 to add a new foyer to the front of its building, restrooms, a dressing area, and lower the steps at the entrance to the building, said Rosa Rutledge, chief of the FPC.
