DOH-Bradford issues rabies alert after locating infected cat off of US 301

LAWTEY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Bradford County (DOH-Bradford) has issued a rabies alert after a cat was found to be infected with the disease earlier this month.

DOH-Bradford says that on Monday, Dec. 1, a stray cat was found off of US Highway 301 with the disease.

While wild animals are currently being monitored, the department encourages all residents and visitors to be aware that rabies is present in the population…
