Alachua County unveils food hub feasibility study webpage

Alachua County recently unveiled a new Food Hub Feasibility Study webpage designed to keep residents informed and to provide updates as the study moves forward.

The microsite will highlight the Fresh Food Pathways Program: Food Hub Feasibility Study, a 30-month initiative that will examine how a community-based food hub could strengthen the local food system, support area farmers and expand access to fresh, local food, according to the release.

The county has contracted with New Venture Advisors, a national food systems consulting firm. This part of the study will assess infrastructure needs, market demand and opportunities to better connect local agricultural producers with hospitals, schools and other institutional food buyers…
