Drinking set off a disturbance leading to a man’s arrest in The Villages.

Deputies were called Sunday night to a disturbance at a home in the Village of Briar Meadow South, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Courtney James Cashman, 49, had tried to leave the home in a car, but the homeowner refused to let Cashman drive away, because he had been drinking. Cashman became “irate” at not being allowed to drive. Cashman tried to walk away, but the older man attempted to follow Cashman “to attempt to understand where his frustration was coming from.” Cashman grabbed the older man by his arm. The older man’s wife intervened and threatened to call law enforcement. Cashman encouraged her to call 911 and maintained he “did nothing wrong.”…
