Mother in recovery after losing unborn child in Marion County accident that also claimed life of 5-year-old boy

A 25-year-old mother is on the road to recovery after she suffered severe injuries in a fatal crash in Marion County that claimed the life of her unborn child and a 5-year-old boy.

Josie NesSmith is currently recovering from injuries she sustained during a fatal accident on U.S. Highway 27 on December 27 that claimed the life of NesSmith’s unborn child, “Lefty James,” as well as 5-year-old Christopher “Tucker” Sandlin of Enon, Ohio.

NesSmith, of Old Town, was transferred out of the intensive care unit on Friday, Jan 2, less than a week after she was rushed into emergency surgery following the accident. The mother of one, who was 33 weeks pregnant at the time of the accident, sustained severe injuries during the incident, including a broken femur and the loss of her spleen…
