Florida woman indicted for conspiracy to commit wire fraud

GAINESVILLE, Florida — Xin Liu, a 40-year-old from Apopka, Florida, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Liu appeared for her arraignment in federal court before United States Magistrate Judge Midori A. Lowry on December 23, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida. A jury trial is scheduled for January 28, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. before Chief District Court Judge Allen C. Winsor. If convicted, Liu faces up to 20 years’ imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations, and the Gainesville Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner is prosecuting the case…
