OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – Two firefighters fired, but not criminally charged, following a violent hazing incident at a Marion County Fire Rescue station, are now filing grievances against the department, alleging wrongful termination.
Fredrick Bowers and Victor Payette have filed grievances alleging their termination was overly punitive and a violation of the due process requirements of their collective bargaining agreement. The firefighters are asking to be reinstated with back pay.
Both said they could not properly defend themselves because their allegations of hazing were too vague and were not given in advance of their hearing…
