Decorated vet honored by Marion officials: ‘I am blessed to live in the best county in the United States’

A retired Army captain with a decorated record of service who was recently recognized with a day in Marion County named in his honor, reflected on the heavy price of service and the blessing of returning to citizenship during Tuesday’s meeting of the Marion County Board of County Commissioners.

The board formally presented the proclamation to Steve Petty during its regular meeting on Tuesday morning.
