Driver with suspended license apprehended in U-Haul sprinter van

A Belleview man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after being stopped in a U-Haul sprinter van.

A deputy stopped 59-year-old Mitchell Stewart Groo in a white U-Haul sprinter van with no rear lights active on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Ocala around 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Groo handed over his ID and advised that he did not have a valid driver’s license. A check of his driving history revealed numerous suspensions, including for refusal to submit to a lawful test of breath, urine or blood. He also had unpaid court financial obligations and controlled substance violations dating from December 2019 through January 2025, the report said…
