Ocala family and six dogs escape fire that destroys home

A family of four and their six dogs escaped injury Monday afternoon after a fire broke out at their home in northeast Ocala.

Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the 6600 block of NE 2nd Place in Ocala at 12:27 p.m. on Jan. 26 after a 911 caller reported that the front of a house was on fire.

MCFR Rolling Greens Rescue #28 was the first to arrive on scene at 12:29 p.m., reporting a “working fire” at the double-wide mobile home. Crews immediately went into rescue mode to ensure all family members and pets were safely removed from the structure.

According to MCFR, firefighters from Lowell Engine #11 arrived shortly thereafter, deploying hose lines to attack the flames. Additional support was provided by crews from Anthony Station #1, Silver Springs Shores Station #17, and Golden Ocala Station #20.
