Detectives from the Ocala Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office believe they have identified the person responsible for three armed store robberies that occurred on Jan. 27 and 28.
Clifton Deon Scarlett, 55, of Ocala, was spotted by a deputy driving a Dodge Charger recklessly along Northwest Eighth Street toward Martin Luther King Avenue on Jan. 28, the agencies said. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but Scarlett ignored the effort and an Ocala Police Department officer joined the pursuit.
