‘Very disappointed’: Parents voice frustration following release of Alachua County zoning proposals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Parents in one Gainesville neighborhood are expressing outrage following the release of school rezoning proposals.

For people who live in the Brookfield neighborhood, Hidden Oak Elementary School is about a 10-15 minute walk, but with the new Alachua County Public Schools’ zoning maps, a walk to school would no longer be possible.

All three new zoning proposals have them attending Meadowbrook Elementary, nearly two and a half miles away, and about an hour walk…
