Toxic railroad ties to be removed by February’s end as Marion officials file injunction

Railroad ties that caught fire in Dunnellon after months of inadequate removal efforts should be completely removed by the end of this month, with Marion County officials having declared a state of emergency and agreeing to file an injunction against the parties responsible for the incident this week.

On Tuesday, the Marion County Board of County Commissioners (MCBCC) unanimously voted to declare a state of emergency in coordination with the City of Dunnellon.
