ALACHUA, Florida — A 76-year-old golf instructor from Alachua has been arrested for inappropriate contact with minors at a local golf course, according to the Alachua Police Department.
On August 29, 2025, the department was alerted to an incident at Turkey Creek Golf Course, located at 11400 Turkey Creek Boulevard, by an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputy. The deputy was informed by a student about the incident, which occurred on August 25, 2025, during a school-related practice session involving several high school students.
John Stevens, 76, of Alachua, was identified as the suspect. He allegedly approached two female students who had separated from their group to practice at the far end of the driving range.
