The SEC is an absolute meat grinder this year, and teams are just beating up on each other. With just a few weeks left until the conference tournament, the middle of the pack is a complete logjam, and the top of the standings might be deceiving.
If you just look at the raw win-loss records, Florida is sitting on the throne. But if you look at how these teams are actually constructed and how they match up in March, a different powerhouse takes the crown this week.

1. Arkansas Razorbacks (19-6, 9-3)Yes, Florida has a slightly better conference record, but the Hogs are playing the best basketball in the league right now. They just avenged a loss to Auburn by completely dismantling them 88-75, thanks to Darius Acuff Jr. dropping 31 points and Billy Richmond III adding a career-high 25. John Calipari’s squad has won three straight, and their offense is incredibly balanced. They are the team to beat.
2. Florida Gators (19-6, 10-2)Todd Golden and Florida are sitting in first place, but they have a fatal flaw that will cost them in March: they cannot shoot the basketball. Outside of Urban Klavzar, who has been an absolute lifesaver for them off the bench. This team is a bricklayer’s union from deep. Kentucky handed them a massive cushion this weekend, and the Gators still barely survived. If a team can lock down Klavzar on the perimeter, Florida is incredibly vulnerable…
