GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -Anxiety, frustration and calls for transparency filled a packed East Gainesville church Monday evening as families gathered to discuss proposed school zoning changes that could close or consolidate several Alachua County campuses.
The town hall, hosted by The Visionaires, Inc. and the Alachua County NAACP, focused on draft attendance zone maps released by Alachua County Public Schools as part of its “Our Schools Future Ready” initiative, a plan district leaders say is designed to right-size schools amid enrollment shifts.
