Eight new pickleball courts open at Tom Petty Park in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -Eight new pickleball courts are now open to the public at Tom Petty Park as part of a $2.6 million renovation project. Tennis courts also reopened with a new shade canopy.

The renovations include new seating areas, LED lighting, a multipurpose trail and additional shade structures. “Tom Petty Park is one of our most beloved neighborhood parks, and it’s great to see it getting the investment it deserves,” said Gainesville City Commissioner Bryan Eastman.

The new lighting extends activity into evening hours, said Wild Spaces & Public Places acting Director Rachel Mandell. Upcoming trail lighting will provide safer pedestrian connections between the north and south ends of the park…
