A Gainesville man was arrested Saturday on charges of possessing a firearm on school grounds. Jeffrey Griffith was allegedly carrying a gun near a Santa Fe College athletics field, according to a Santa Fe College Police Department arrest affidavit.
A witness spotted Griffith, 69, with a firearm and flagged down a nearby officer. As SFPD officers approached him, they saw a holstered gun on Griffith’s right hip.
Griffith was handcuffed and told law enforcement he didn’t know it was illegal to carry a weapon on school grounds. He was arrested around 2 p.m., according to the affidavit…
