Marion homeowners seeking final decision on 2 horses at 1.29-acre property

Marion County officials will make a final decision next week on a request from a couple of homeowners who want permission to keep two horses on their 1.29-acre residential lot.

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners will vote Tuesday, March 17, on a Special Use Permit request from homeowners Andres Hernandez and Gladisleidys Gonzalez to keep two horses on their 1.29-acre property located along SW 80th street in Dunnellon’s Rolling Hills subdivision.

The request follows a code enforcement case initiated when the horses were discovered on the site. The property is currently zoned as Single-Family Dwelling (R-1), which typically prohibits livestock without specific county authorization.
