Newberry candidate forum ends with candidate in handcuffs and released, sworn complaint filed against resident

NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB) – A Newberry City Commission candidate was placed in handcuffs and released, and Alachua County Deputies filed a sworn complaint against a resident following an argument at a candidate at a forum on Sunday.

TV20’s reporter on-scene says Brandy Oldman, running to replace Group 1 Commissioner Ricky Coleman, was in an altercation with Jessica Carey, a Newberry resident.

Oldman was placed in handcuffs, put into a squad car, then released by Alachua County Deputies. Carey was not seen being put in handcuffs…
