NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB) -A Newberry City Commission candidate is speaking out after being placed in handcuffs during an altercation at a candidate forum, as a simple battery complaint remains under review by the State Attorney’s Office.
The incident happened on Sunday following a candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Alachua County ahead of the April 14 election.
According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, a sworn complaint was filed against Seat 1 candidate Brandy Oldman after an altercation with Newberry resident Jessica Carey.
