Florida staff struggling to restrain Myles Graham amid recovery: ‘He just wants to pop pads’

While he remains limited and is not expected to take part in 11-on-11 drills this spring, which could prevent him from playing in Florida’s Orange and Blue Game, Gators star linebacker Myles Graham participated in individual drills for the first time in front of reporters during UF’s Tuesday practice, a welcome sign of progress following his December shoulder surgery.

Florida head coach Jon Sumrall, on March 3, noted Graham would not tackle in practice throughout the spring amid his recovery from the operation. But that didn’t stop the Gators’ 2025 leading tackler from trying on Tuesday.

“He’s one of those guys I’ve learned real fast to tell him, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa,’ not, ‘Giddy up.’
” Sumrall shared. “We put him out there in an orange jersey, which means you’re non-contact, which is what the quarterbacks wear too. And he’s out there trying to like just absolutely start crushing people. I’m like, ‘Easy bro.’
Like, the no contact means people aren’t allowed to contact you and you can’t contact them either…
