Detectives continue to search for leads in 32-year-old cold case

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – It has been 32 years since the remains of 24-year-old Robert Howards were discovered in a wooded area near SW Archer Road and SW 170th Street.

On Saturday, the anniversary of the discovery, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office posted to bring awareness and ask for the community’s assistance in helping crack the case.

Detectives say Howards was reported missing on August 5, 1992, and was last seen by witnesses near the Arredondo Farms (today known as Palms of Archer) neighborhood…
