Denise Janelle Snow-Ingram, of Phoenix, was convicted in November of second-degree murder and child abuse
A woman in Arizona was sentenced to 37 years in prison after her baby died in 2013 from malnutrition and neglect .
Denise Janelle Snow-Ingram, of Phoenix, was handed down the sentence after she was convicted in November of second-degree murder and child abuse , prosecutors said Tuesday.
Snow-Ingram, 48, said she didn’t take her baby to the doctor because of religious beliefs. When the baby died at 16 months old she weighed less than 9 pounds. The young girl had only been fed oatmeal, fruit and apple juice mixed with water around the time of her death.
She also had Rickets, a condition affecting bone development in children caused by Vitamin D deficiency.
The neglect caused her daughter “to physically waste away,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said. “This was a child who stood no chance of surviving in the hands of her own parents.”
Her father, Ernest Ingram, was also sentenced to prison in 2022 for manslaughter and child abuse .
