Queen Creek Unified Looks forward to new school year

Queen Creek Unified School District is less than a month away from the start of a new school year and it will be welcoming 15,000 students to its 14 schools on Monday, July 22.

Newell Barney College Prep will enter its first year as a college preparatory school, offering students a chance to earn up to four high-school credits while in junior high. NBCP is focused on leadership development, STEM classes and an accelerated curriculum, a district press release stated.

In the new school year, QCUSD will celebrate an expanded group of its graduating seniors with Crismon High School’s first-ever graduating class. CHS opened in July 2022.

Mountain Trail Academy, QCUSD’s 10th elementary school, is now under construction in Mesa and is set to open in the  2025–2026 school year. The school facilities division has provided funding and land for this construction project due to the continued growth within QCUSD, the release stated.

As in every school year, students can take career and technical education classes that are tailored to their career fields of interest.  Student will also have the opportunity to engage in participatory budgets through the Lead out Loud program. Each school is allocated funds and students vote on how the funds should be spent. LOL encourages leadership and finance skills and is kicked off with a conference at the beginning of the school year.
