Mass Layoffs Hit Arizona Business on the Eve of July Four

Arizona Workers Face Job Cuts Ahead of Independence Day

It won’t be a happy July 4 for employees at Schuff Steel in Arizona, with mass layoffs announced today.

Under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, employers with more than 100 full-time workers must provide 60 days’ notice before laying off 50 or more employees at a single site.

Today, Schuff Steel filed a WARN notice with the Arizona Department of Economic Security advising that 63 staff will be laid off.

This WARN notice is the latest in a series of layoffs that have affected Arizona in recent weeks and adds to the growing list of job cuts in the state.
