Calm weather, lower humidity on tap for Phoenix area this weekend

Forecasters were predicting a calm weekend, following a Thursday that saw storms slam into portions of east Phoenix and East Valley suburbs.

The National Weather Service called for a high of 106 degrees on Friday, with possible wind gusts as high as 25 miles per hour in the late afternoon to early evening. Both high temperatures would be slightly above normal, forecasters said.

The highs for Saturday and Sunday were forecasted to be 104 on both days. The forecast called for possible light winds.

Forecasters said that humidity should ease and overnight temperatures would be more comfortable, falling into the low 80s or even the high 70s.

Storms were still possible Friday in Gila County, the National Weather Service said.

The forecast showed little chance of storms in the Phoenix area entering the early part of the work week.
