Gilbert has some safety reminders and other information for those who wish to celebrate the holidays with fireworks.
Fireworks 101
Non-aerial fireworks are permitted under state law and Gilbert Town Ordinance for individuals to use on private property from Dec. 26-Jan. 3.
It’s important to note that non-aerial fireworks can only be used on private property with the owner’s permission and are prohibited on all public property, including parks or public right-of-ways and roads.
Individuals using fireworks outside the dates allowed under state law are subject to a $1,000 fine.

Fireworks safety
Residents who are are planning to use consumer fireworks should follow these safety tips:
- Ensure there is adult supervision at all times;
- Avoid loose clothing;
- Only use fireworks outside on your own property and never near dry shrubs or grass;
- Do not shoot fireworks off in the middle of the street;
- Stand back! Always ensure there are several feet between the spectators and any fireworks;
- Keep a bucket of water close;
- Call 9-1-1 immediately if an injury or fire occurs;
- Permissible fireworks may not be sold to anybody under the age of 16.
