Mesa police use new law to arrest woman suspected of selling fentanyl that killed a man

Mesa police arrested and booked a woman into jail using a new law that threatens harsher penalties to those who sell fentanyl to someone who later overdoses and dies as a result.

Detective Sabrina Amyx, a department spokesperson, said officers responded to a home near Southern Avenue and Hawes Road on Nov. 27, 2024, after they received reports of an unresponsive man later identified as 49-year-old Todd Gordon.
