A look inside Gilbert schools with the town’s first police officer dedicated to community’s youth

GILBERT, Ariz. — An East Valley police officer has taken a new role dedicated to thousands of youth in the community. The Town of Gilbert created its first Youth Community Engagement Officer to continue to crack down on teen violence.

Officer Emily King has been serving in the position for about eight months. In that time, Officer King said she researched how to best support young people in the community.

“I work with our school resource officers, going to schools and engaging our youth,” King said…
