GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily)— Firefighters say exhaust fans cause a significant percentage of the house fires they respond to. A Gilbert family said it happened to them last week and shared their warning, hoping it helps other families avoid the mess.
Christine Dompier said she was at her Gilbert home with her three-year-old on Friday, watching TV, when the smoke detector suddenly started going off.
“I get up, I kind of look into our master room, and it’s weird because you think smoke’s black, but it’s not. It was white and and hazy, and I was like nope. So I grabbed the 3-year-old, went right outside, no shoes and we called 911,” she recalled…
